St. Martin’s Church, Radnor, and Christ Church, Ithan, have planned Wednesday evening Lenten services for the surrounding community. The overall theme is “The Way of Love: Being Change Agents for God”. Starting on March 13th, the churches will take turns hosting worship with a different guest speaker and topic every week. There will be scripture readings, special hymns, responsive prayers and time for reflection, learning, and discussion. All are welcome to experience one, a few, or all of the evenings to make Lent more meaningful. The evening format is as follows:

6:00-6:30 PM Fellowship

6:30-7:00 PM Worship

7:00-8:00 PM Supper and discussion program

The Upper Room

St. Martin’s Church, Radnor and Christ Church, Ithan are hosting “The Upper Room”, a mid-week conversational gathering for the community at the Gryphon Cafe, 105 W Lancaster Ave, Wayne. Hearing attendees voice their varied points of view make these get-togethers extra special. All are welcome, so bring a friend to share, learn, and enjoy! A light dinner will be provided. Ample parking is available in the nearby Santander Bank lot.

Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:00 PM

February 13th’s topic is “Love your neighbor as yourself, even when you don’t like their view on things.”
February 27th’s topic is “Busy! Busy! Busy! How do I make a positive difference in the world?”

Dine & Donate

Roast and Chop at 550 E. Lancaster Ave., Wayne, will host a fundraising day for the Stand With Iraqi Christians (SWIC) initiative. Simply mention Stand With Iraqi Christians or SWIC at the checkout and half of the proceeds will be donated to the organization. This offer is for eating in or taking out. Please make Roast and Chop part of your meal plans on Sunday, September 30, between 10:30 and 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a delicious meal and help fund SWIC’s efforts in Iraq at the same time!

Mission & Social Media Sunday

Mission and Social Media SundayJoin with congregants of St. Martin’s Church, Radnor, Christ Church, Ithan, and students of Eastern University in a special Sunday service on September 30th, at the Baird Library on Eastern University’s campus (2nd floor of the Walton Building).

During the 10:00 a.m. service, missioners will be sent forth with prayers for their upcoming trip to Iraq on October 3rd through the 16th. Attendees will be permitted and encouraged to use their smartphones, tablets, and other digital devices during the service to post, tweet, snap, etc. Learn and experience how digital connections are made between the U.S. and Iraq. SWIC-Resolution D063 Accepted

Resolution D063 Supporting Christians in Iraq

SWIC at the Episcopal General Convention 2018Fr. Chris, George Vosburgh, and many others were able to draft and amend a resolution that was accepted by the House of Deputies in Austin on Tuesday, July 10th at the Episcopal General Convention. Many thanks to all SWIC donors and volunteers who have helped to grow our organization. The Episcopal Church in the U.S. now recognizes our efforts in collaboration with the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf. The resolution reads in part:

“Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That the General Convention of the Episcopal Church express its support for the right of all Christians and other persecuted minorities in Iraq to live their life of faith and develop their communities free of persecution, discrimination and violence; and be it further

Resolved, That the General Convention encourages The Episcopal Church, working in partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, to provide prayers, friendship, and material support as determined by the needs and aspirations of Iraq’s Christians, as an expression of our love and recognition of their religious, cultural, and humanitarian inclusion in the sacred Body of Christ; …”
