St. Martin’s children’s programs reflect our ethos of life together as a family. Each child is treasured,
known and loved. We share the wonder of discovering the gifts of God and the Holy Spirit all around us in our world and in the scriptures. By learning, playing, and serving others together, we seek to develop in our children lifelong habits of love and faithfulness.
Childcare is offered during our 10:00 a.m. Sunday worship service for preschoolers. Our caretakers are well-known persons in the parish and offer a safe, caring environment for your children.
Children’s formation for ages 3-12 years focus on teaching children the basics of the Bible, the Episcopal faith and worship, emphasizing incorporating these lessons into their daily lives. Sunday’s class starts at 9:30 a.m. After the class, the children are escorted to the main worship service in time for Communion with their families.
Midrash with Legos
Midrash with Legos is an exciting experiential biblical learning process for children. We go beyond learning about the Bible, to being a part of the Bible stories, connecting passages from the Bible to our own lives—in our own times. It gives children a chance to explore Holy Scripture in collaboration with others with a supportive and appreciative audience.
There are no “experts.” The children actually lead others toward new perspectives. Often a child points out a detail in a story that innumerable adult readings have missed. The children become creatively grounded in our stories of faith, while leading the rest of
us into new and fresh ways of understanding our deep scriptural treasures! (For information visit the Midrash with Legos page.)
